Yes, I have worked some with the elderly and I do believe that personality traits magnify. I saw it with my own mother, too.

They used to serve livermush at my elementary school cafeteria. Yuck.
I think it's more popular up in Ohio and the midwest.

I think I'll make some cornbread tonight. But I've got yellow cornmeal I still have some ham I made on Sunday. Maybe some green beans and mashed potatoes too.
I don't like liver mush. No thanks.

I have taught my children that all us commit sins and that Jesus died so that our sins are forgiven.
I did not dwell on sin and I never told them that they were not worthy.
I taught them that Jesus and God are love and that we are to love our neighbor.

I can see one of my aunts acting this way. Not screaming. But just talking and preaching nonstop to where the young men helping her would not want to get near her.
I have another aunt who suffers from true dementia. She needs someone watching her 24/7 and also someone to help with everything around her house. Do you think anyone from the KH does anything to help her? Not a chance. She has been a super loyal JW for 57 years.
The sort of funny thing is that she really has no memories now of anything since 1953. So she doesn't remember anything about JWs. She can talk about things that happened pre-1953. I find it hilarious that all her JW books and assemblies and meeting have been erased from her mind.
Hilarious and sad at the same time.

Did you find JW's infecting others just so that they didn't miss a meeting?
by highdose ingive you an example: there was a hoiler than thou, devout couple in my cong who had a son.
the son aged about 5 had chicken pox, they took him to the meetings, never missing one so that he would learn that you did not miss a meeting!.
the result was several of the infirm and eldery ones contracted either pox or associated illness like shingles.

I have been out for decades but there were definitely hardcore JWs at my KH that NEVER missed a meeting and they did not believe that anybody should. There were no excuses for them. They came sick and recovering from surgeries and they expected everybody else to do the same. There were a lot of extreme people in the congregation that I attended and they were a complete turnoff to me in my adolescence. I had no respect for them and I did not want to be like them. And I left.

A woman at our church who is a great Bible scholar and leads a great Tuesday morning Bible study as well as a Sunday morning Sunday School class recommends the New American Standard version as being the most faithful translation. I plan to buy one soon. I currently use NIV.

I just want to say how much I hate the f***ing cult
by Confuzzled ini posted here a few times some months back about my jw bf, and i'm glad i did because i was on the fence about the whole thing.
i had to stop because the nature of his profession might have brought him here, and the details i had given it wouldn't have taken much to figure out who i was talking about.
i still lurk though, daily.. i hate this.

Confuzzled:
Think about your child. Do you want to bring your child up in this cult? Do you want your child to believe that you believe the doctrines of the JWs?
Or do you want your child to have a normal childhood with Christmas and Birthdays? I was raised as a JW. You do not want that for your child.
It borders on child abuse. It is spiritual abuse.

For born ins- what tipped you off it was wrong
by teela(2) inat a young age i remember watching tv and commenting why is the red cross always helping people and we don't.
the second big one is if the witnesses only started up in 1890 - 1900 did jehovah not have anyone else doing the preaching work?.
as a child i don't think we think about theological problems so what tipped you off?

I also noticed that other churches were out helping people and doing many good deeds. Not the JWs. It made no sense to me.
